Showdown at the DOMA Corral

Nearly 13 years in the making, the big legal challenge to the federal Defense of Marriage Act starts today. Many GLBT and equality advocates have avoided such confrontation. Some fear a loss could solidify the discrimination inherent in President Bill Clinton's worst sell-out.

Over at Left Ahead!, Lynne, Ryan and I will talk it up today at 2:30 p.m. on our podcast. That will be available on a live stream, and afterward at the same URL or over at Left Ahead! for download or online listening.

The Boston Globe has a piece with the basics of the 15 plaintiffs and the case here. GLAD is principal to the suit and has both legal and personal details here. The 92-page filing is here. Bay Windows recaps its key points.

Amusingly enough, the local paper puts this on the bottom of the Metro front. That's local, not national, and below such ripping articles as Bostonians tired of shoveling snow this winter.

Regardless, I can hardly wait to hear what I have to say about this.
